This page explains how to request deletion of your RouteKatha account and the personal data associated with it. RouteKatha ("the App") complies with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") of India and the Google Play data deletion policy.
You do not have to delete your whole account to remove data from RouteKatha. The App gives you direct control over individual records and over what you share with the community. All of the steps below are available inside the App, on the account you are signed in to.
Delete a single trip
Open the Trips tab, find the trip, and tap the delete icon on the trip card. Confirm when prompted. This permanently removes the trip, its stops, its charging details and its toll entries from your device and from our servers. If the trip was shared with the community, its community entry is withdrawn at the same time. This cannot be undone.
Delete a single service record
Open the Garage, go to the maintenance logs for the vehicle, and tap the delete icon on the record. Confirm when prompted. This permanently removes the service record from your device and from our servers, and withdraws the corresponding community maintenance entry. This cannot be undone.
Remove a trip from the community feed but keep the trip
Open the Trips tab and tap the share toggle on the trip card to turn sharing off. The trip stays in your own Trips list. Its community entry is withdrawn and the route statistics it contributed to are recalculated without it. Please note that turning sharing off also clears the stop-by-stop detail held on our servers for that trip; the trip and its summary remain in the App on your device.
Stop sharing everything with the community
You can withdraw consent to withdraw all of your community contributions at once, without deleting your account. See Section 7 below.
What cannot be removed separately
Vehicles cannot be deleted individually. A vehicle is removed when you delete your account, as described in Section 4.
If you cannot access the App and need specific data removed, email routekatha@gmail.com from a message identifying the phone number your account uses, and tell us what you would like removed.
The fastest and most complete way to delete your account is directly from within the App:
This immediately triggers a server-side deletion process that removes your account, all associated data, and your sign-in credentials.
If you can no longer access the App — for example, because you have uninstalled it, lost access to your registered phone number, or your device is unavailable — you can request deletion by email.
Send an email to routekatha@gmail.com with the following:
We will verify the request against the registered account details and process the deletion. If we need any clarification we will contact you at the email address you write from.
When your account is deleted, the following are permanently removed from RouteKatha's cloud servers:
Local data on your device is removed when you use the in-app deletion flow or when you uninstall the App.
This retention exception matches Section 7 of our Privacy Policy.
In-app deletion takes effect immediately. Server-side cascade of associated data typically completes within a few minutes.
Email deletion requests are processed within seven (7) working days of receipt and identity verification.
If you want to stop syncing new data to the cloud but keep your account, you can withdraw cloud backup consent from Settings → Data Backup. After withdrawal, no new data will sync to the cloud, and your community feed contributions will be retracted. Previously synced data remains in the cloud until you delete your account. See Section 6 of our Privacy Policy for details.
